Couture

Couture gowns are Katherine Summer’s most exquisite and exclusive offering. Each piece is created ex nihilo, and can involve well over one-hundred hours of labor. As such, your participation and availability are essential.

A Conversation

Traditional, modern, sophisticated, demure, sexy, ethereal, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll? We aim to build long term relationships, so all projects start with a conversation. Understanding your desires and requirements is key to moving forward stress-free.

We’ll get on the same page regarding your vision,  preferred fabrics, and what proportions work best with your body type.

Now is also the time to establish practical concerns such as budget.

Clear scheduling for design, development, fittings, and delivery make for a secure experience and a beautiful garment. We’ll set our timeline and mark calendar dates at time of our initial consultation.

Transparent and regular communication allows you to be confident in our process. Always feel free to reach out at any point between fittings.

A Plan

Starting with your provided concept, I’ll pencil a sketch for your approval.

After we have agreed on all aspects of the design, we create a pattern based on your measurements.  Then we stitch a mock-up using muslin or an appropriate inexpensive fabric. Anticipate 2-3 mock-up fittings before cutting and sewing your gown in the actual material. This helps us to achieve the general fit before cutting into your expensive fashion fabric.

Once the gown has been cut in it’s actual material expect between 3-4 more fittings as we fine-tune your gown.

An Occasion

Whether you’re attending a glamorous soiree or getting married in pastoral style, you will radiate effortlessness and grace on your special day.

In addition to dressmaking, we offer day-of services at your event to handle any wardrobe situations for yourself or members of your bridal party.
